Mindful Money Awards 2022

Responsible Investing is part of what we do at SBS Wealth . It’s why we partner with organisations like Mindful Money to support their mission for greater transparency and adoption of responsible investing practices.  So, when the opportunity came up to sponsor the “Best Net Zero and Climate Action Investor” award in the 2022 Mindful Money Awards, we happily put our support behind the event.  

We were delighted to present the award to the New Zealand Superannuation Fund this year in recognition of their achievement.

What Is It?

The Mindful Money Award for “Best Net Zero and Climate Action Investor” recognises investment professionals who are driving the adoption of climate-conscious investing beliefs.  This award recognises those asset management companies that have demonstrated outstanding and measurable progress towards transitioning to a low carbon economy.

Why Did We Do It?

Through sponsoring this award, we are excited to help celebrate funds who are also championing climate conscious investing practices. Considering carbon intensity and exposure to fossil fuels has been a key focus of our own investment approach, it was a natural fit for SBS Wealth. You can find more about this approach here.

Our Background

At SBS Wealth, we’ve been integrating responsible investing practices for a while, having had screens in place to mitigate exposure to investments associated with harmful practices since 2016.  Also, as an organisation, we are actively reducing our corporate emissions and offsetting any emission we can’t reduce just yet as part of our Toitū net carbonzero certification.

To achieve the Paris Agreement’s goal of keeping the global average temperature from rising more than 1.5⁰C above pre-industrial levels, we believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a better tomorrow.  This was the first year we helped sponsor the Mindful Money Awards, but it won’t be the last!  We look forward to continuing to support these efforts going forwards.
